Your notebook. Everything stays on this computer unless you switch cloud AI on.
Order of preference: a private AI running on this computer (Ollama) is always used when it's there — nothing leaves the machine. Cloud AI is the backup, and it only turns on if you switch it on below. With both off, the notebook still logs, files, and exports everything. Only the AI expansion is unavailable.
Cloud AI uses Jeff's Claude. When it's on, the entry you expand — plus a small slice of related notes for context — leaves this machine and goes to Anthropic's servers through Jeff's account. Your notebook and your files never upload wholesale. Off by default.
Entries gather by tag. Open one to read it as a single document, copy it, or save it as a file.
The notebook gets sharper the more of your writing it can see. Point it at a folder of your files — exported notes, documents, drafts, old writing — and it can quote you back to yourself: it drafts in your voice, connects a new thought to things you already wrote, and finds the thread when you half-remember something.
Everything indexed here is stored in this browser, on this computer. Nothing is uploaded anywhere by indexing it.
It reads .txt and .md files (up to a few hundred), skips everything else, and never changes or moves a file. Remove it all with one button, any time.
Connecting Drive needs a one-time sign-in that is easier to do together, so it isn't wired up yet. Until then, anything you can save into a folder on this computer works today with Step 2.
